Kayf Tara stars at London Art Fair

13/01/10 - We know him as England’s most successful jumps stallion but the Overbury resident is now also an artist’s muse

Visitors to this week’s London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre in Islington will be treated to a near-lifesize drawing of Kayf Tara.

Artist Robert Davies, who is best known for his series of abstract football images entitled ‘Epiphany’, has turned his attention to animals of late and racehorses in particular. Along with images of Kayf Tara and Bertolini, he has also drawn Grand National hero Mon Mome and the four-time King George winner Kauto Star.

“The idea is to draw both sorts of animals in a classic traditional portrait style but in a very contemporary way, showing the animals in a manner that exemplifies their beauty and grandeur, be they horses, cows or sheep,” says Robert, who is based in Worcestershire and is planning a solo exhibition of his work in 2011.

The arresting and unmistakable portrait of Kayf Tara measures 6ft x 5ft and is on display until Saturday, 16 January. Further details can be found at www.londonartfair.co.uk.
