Voramar Two has Aintree in his sights

6/2/10 - Overbury-bred son of Kayf Tara heads to Liverpool after hurdles win; Mrs Fawlty is faultless at Towcester

Voramar Two took his first steps here at Overbury Stud and recently went a few steps closer to appearing at Aintree’s Grand National meeting with a wide-margin win in the Deane Veterinary Centre Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton on 2 February.

The Philip Hobbs-trained seven-year-old had last season’s Foxhunters’ winner Cappa Bleu trailing in eight lengths behind him when clearly finding the step up to three miles to his advantage. A scopey gelding, he is likely stick to hurdles this season, with a run at Aintree a firm possibility, before going novice chasing next year.

Bred by the Overbury Partnership and Darley, Voramar Two is out of the First Trump mare Amaretto Flame.

Two days later, Mrs Fawlty, also seven, defied the gruelling Towcester mud to land the GG.com Mares’ Maiden Hurdle by two-and-a-quarter lengths. She was last seen finishing fifth behind Love Of Tara, another daughter of Kayf Tara, at the same track in November.

Mrs Fawlty is out of Hannigan’s Lodger, by Be My Native, and was bred in Ireland by Mrs M Curran.
