Back-to-back wins for Covert Decree

12/09/11 - Proclamation filly seeking hat-trick at Newbury on Friday

The Clive Cox-trained Covert Decree is now three wins from six starts following recent recent wins at Newbury and Goodwood.

The three-year-old daughter of Proclamation won her maiden by seven lengths earlier in the year and has enjoyed a good summer with another three-length strike over a mile and a half at Newbury on 13 August followed by a tenacious win on Saturday.

Positioning the filly just behind the leaders, jockey John Fahy made a decisive move in the home straight with Covert Decree able to hold off a determined run by Franciscan. She is entered at Newbury on Friday in a bid to secure her hat-trick.

Bred by Alan Tombs from the Fleetwood mare Armada Grove, Covert Decree is a half-sister to the winner Henderson Park, by Bertolini.

It has also been a good week for Kayf Tara, who notched a trio of jumping winners and a victory on the flat courtesy of his first-crop dual-purpose son Katies Tuitor. Now under the guidance of Stan Moore, the eight-year-old landed a two-mile handicap at Kempton by two lengths on Saturday.
