Bumper success

25/9/11 - Two winners in two days for Kayf Tara

A pair of four-year-old geldings became the latest winners for their sire Kayf Tara when scoring in bumpers on consecutive days.

J P McManus’s Strongly Suggested made a promising debut in the hands of champion jockey A P McCoy on Friday, winning over two miles at Worcester.

Trained by Jonjo O’Neill, the winner was bought for €31,000 at last year’s Derby Sale and was bred in Wales by David Brace. He is out of Branston Lily (Cadeaux Genereux), whose dam Indefinite Article is a sister to Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Definite Article.

The following day it was the turn of Magnifique Etoile to salute the judge. Hailing from the in-form stable of Charlie Longsdon, the gelding had been placed on each of his three previous starts and coasted home at Market Rasen to win by 22 lengths.

He is a second foal of the bumper-winning Toulon mare Star Diva and was bred by R C Douglas and C A Vernon.
