Another Saturday double for Kayf Tara

29/10/11 – Michael Flips and No Planning salute at Ascot and Wetherby; Gallox Bridge now three wins from five runs

The progeny of Kayf Tara were once again to the fore on a super Saturday of jump racing with Michael Flips getting off the mark over fences and bumper winner No Planning taking to hurdles in some style.

Michael Flips, who was beaten by the highly talented Cue Card on his chasing debut at Chepstow earlier this month, got the better of a small but competitive field at Ascot, which included another of Kayf Tara’s former good hurdlers, Megastar.

The extra experience told for the seven-year-old winner, who has also won a point-to-point and two hurdle races, including the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton. The imposing Megastar also looks like a horse with a bright future in the chasing division.

Four-year-old No Planning has had just three racecourse outings, finishing runner-up in a bumper on debut at Hexham in April before winning at the same track the following month.

Having been freshened up over the summer, he made a pleasing start over hurdles, taking up the running with five left to jump and gradually increasing the pressure on his rivals to win by three and three-quarter lengths.

No Planning is out of the Impecunious mare Poor Celt and was bred by Susan Johnson.

On Friday, Kayf Tara six-year-old Gallox Bridge won the 2m5f novice hurdle at Uttoxeter to take his record to three wins from five starts.
