Hat-trick for Graduation Night

19/11/11 - Kayf Tara five-year-old completes novice chase three-timer

Graduation Night, a Kayf Tara half-brother to the admirable Flat stayer Sergeant Cecil, advertised the family’s versatility when securing his hat-trick of steeplechase wins at Ascot on Saturday.

Trained by Jamie Snowden for Martin Broughton Racing Partners, the five-year-old gelding started out on his winning streak at Wincanton on 23 October when strolling to a 44-length victory in the novices’ chase over three miles and two furlongs.

Sent off as the even-money favourite on his next start, Graduation Night kept his backers on side when obliging by ten lengths, dropping slightly in trip to three miles at Chepstow.

Despite being raised 19lbs since his first victory, the youngster kept hopes alive of a tilt at the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March with yet another gutsy performance on his most recent outing at Ascot to remain unbeaten over fences.

Graduation Night was bred by Susan Brimble and is one of six winners for the Touching Wood mare Jadidh. His full-brother Jau has won a bumper and has also been successful over hurdles.
