Impressive maiden winner for Bertolini

06/01/12 – Three-year-old Appealing lives up to her name with an eye-catching victory on her second start

Appealing, a three-year-old daughter of Bertolini, built on the promise she showed on her 14 December debut by winning the seven-furlong maiden at Wolverhampton by three and a half lengths on Friday.

Beaten just a head at Lingfield first time out, the Marco Botti-trained filly led from the stalls and won easily on her second racecourse appearance to justify her starting price of 4/9F.

Bred in Ireland by Michelle Lyons, she is out of the Spectrum mare Radiant Energy and is a half-sister to the Listed winner Electric Waves.

Trainer Marco Botti said: “We didn’t do much with her last year as she was growing and maturing, but we’re really pleased with her and she’s very straightforward.

"We haven’t done lots with her yet at home so I hope there will still be improvement to come but we’ll wait until the spring now and race her on the grass.”
