Mozoltov the latest eye-catcher by Kayf Tara

08/01/12 - Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old romps home in Thurles bumper by 13 lengths

Willie Mullins is famed for his prowess with young bumper stars and the latest impressive winner in this division to emerge from his stable is Mozoltov, a British-bred six-year-old gelding by Kayf Tara.

Having made his bumper debut at Thurles last February when finishing runner-up to subsequent Grade 2 hurdle winner Mount Belbulben, Mozoltov made his seasonal reappearance at the same course on Saturday to win his own bumper by 13 lengths on just his second start.

Bred by Mrs C A Brown, he is the first foal of the Rudimentary mare Fairmead Princess and has passed through sales rings in both England and Ireland, selling first for £35,000 at Doncaster’s January Sale when he had just turned two, then for €130,000 the following year at Tattersalls Ireland’s Derby Sale.

Quoted in the Racing Post after Mozoltov's win, Mullins said: “He did what we hoped he would do after his one previous run. With his pedigree he should improve with better ground and we´ll probably head for a winners´ bumper.”

Kaffie and Love Of Tara, two mares by Kayf Tara, each earned black type in the Listed 32red.com Mares’ Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday when finishing second and third to Kells Belle after Kaffie had made much of the running.

There was black type too for the previously unbeaten hurdler Magnifique Etoile, who took third in the Grade 1 Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle.
