Bertolini duo bidding for stakes glory

Suits Me and Bannock head to Lingfield for the Winter Derby and Spring Cup  21 March 2012

Bertolini will be doubly represented on Lingfield’s most prestigious all-weather Flat card this Saturday when Suits Me lines up for the Group 3 Winter Derby and three-year-old Bannock takes his chance in the Listed Spring Cup.

There can be few more admirable campaigners than the nine-year-old Suits Me, who has now been in training for eight seasons in a row. His run on Saturday will be his 76th start and fourth in the Winter Derby, in which he finished runner-up in 2010 and fourth last year. His 13 victories include the Listed Winter Open Stakes of 2009 and he has been Listed-placed on another seven occasions.

The Mark Johnston-trained Bannock is the highest-rated entrant in the Spring Cup on a mark of 110 following an impressive two-year-old season which saw him win the Rockingham Stakes at York and finish placed in both the July Stakes and Vintage Stakes.
