Kayf Tara stores well received at Fairyhouse

Two six-figure lots and an average of €38,079 for 19 sold
30 June 2012

The upturn in the market for store horses has been a welcome boost to the National Hunt breeding industry and supporters of Kayf Tara found themselves rewarded at the recent Derby Sale at Tattersalls Ireland.

Two Kayf Tara geldings sold for €100,000 or more, with the 19 stores that found new homes setting a highly respectable average of €38,079 and median of €30,000, each of those fiures being excess of the sale’s average and median as a whole, which were €27,962 and €22,000.

Trainer Noel Meade is the recipient of a three-year-old Kayf Tara half-brother to the high-class Watson Lake, with the Goldford Stud-consigned gelding having been bought for €105,000 by agent Mags O’Toole.

The first foal of the multiple-winning Anshan mare Corrieann, also three and consigned by Galberstown Stud, fetched €100,000 when sold to Stephen Fleetham.

Another pair of three-year-olds each made €60,000 when selling to trainers Charlie Swan and Jeremy Scott respectively.

The top-priced Kayf Tara filly to sell was out of the Verglas mare L’Ultima and the Little Lodge Farm offering was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock for €36,000.
