Derek Boocock's Light Up My LIfe wins again at Newmarket 24 hours after the victory of fellow Overbury-raised runner Common Touch
20 August 2012

Two-year-old Light Up My Life landed her second victory of the season from just three starts when winning the seven-furlong fillies’ nursery at Newmarket on Saturday by three and three-quarter lengths.

Bred and owned by Derek Boocock, the daughter of Zamindar was foaled and raised at Overbury Stud where her dam Sine Like A Star is a permanent boarder. By Fantastic Light, Shine Like A Star is a half-sister to Normandie Stud’s Fallen For You, winner of the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Light Up My Life is trained by Richard Hannon, for whom she claimed a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus when winning her maiden on debut back in May. Her two-year-old half-brother by High Chaparral was sold at Tattersalls last October for 50,000gns.

It has been a successful week for Derek Boocock, who also co-bred with Overbury Stallions Ltd last Friday’s Newmarket winner Common Touch. The Richard Fahey-trained son of Compton Place out of another Overbury resident, Flying Finish, has now won four races, at two, three and four years of age.
