Mozoltov, Cantlow and Mickie add to Kayf Tara’s seasonal haul 19 December 2012

 

In five bumper starts, Mozoltov has looked like a horse worth following and his supporters would not have been disappointed by his first outing over hurdles, which ended in a 24-length win at Gowran Park.

Now with three wins and three places from just six starts, the Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old – a €130,000 purchase at three – looks very exciting indeed, which is encouraging news for his full-brother, who resides at Overbury Stud and becomes a yearling on 1 January 2013.

Also back in the winner’s enclosure recently was Cantlow, who now races in the familiar green-and-hold hooped colours of JP McManus. The seven-year-old landed the novice chase at Plumpton on Monday, and is also a winner over hurdles.

He was bought for £20,000 by his trainer Paul Webber at Brightwells’ Cheltenham Sale in December 2010 after finishing runner-up in an Irish point-to-point. Cantlow was also second to Saint Are in the G1 John Smith’s Sefton Novices Hurdle at Aintree in 2011.

Kayf Tara has already been responsible for two four-year-old bumper-winning fillies this season and on Wednesday, another four-year-old filly, Mickie, suggested she has a bright future with a 14-length victory over hurdles at Ludlow. Runner-up in a bumper on debut, she was making just her fourth start for Henry Daly and is likely to be aimed at the EBF/TBA mares' final at Newbury later in the season.
