Delegator on show at Tattersalls

Handsome first-season son of Dansili to join the TBA Stallion Parade on Thursday, 7 February

Overbury Stud’s new stallion Delegator will be at the TBA Stallion Parade at Tattersalls on Thursday, 7 February.

We’ve been delighted that so many breeders have already been to visit him here at Overbury and this occasion offers a chance for all those in Newmarket for the February Sale to have a good look at the handsome son of Dansili.

We’re hoping he will cover around 100 mares this season, which will give Delegator an excellent chance of being well represented when his first runners hit the track in 2016. He’s bred on the Danehill-Efisio cross of Bushranger, who was so well supported at the last round of yearling sales and is the pick of many good judges to be the leading first-season sire of 2014.

Delegator was himself a decent two-year-old, winning his maiden at Newmarket in August and showing trainer Brian Meehan enough to warrant an entry in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, in which he finished a close-up fifth, just a length and a half behind the winner Intense Focus.

He shot back onto the scene at three, winning the Craven Stakes on his seasonal resumption before finishing second to Sea The Stars in the 2,000 Guineas and a neck behind Mastercraftsman in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Proving as tough as he was talented, Delegator remained in training until he was six, winning in each of those seasons, including victories in the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup over seven furlongs before stamping his sprinting credentials in the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes on his first attempt at six furlongs.

We're thrilled to have him with us at Overbury and look forward to seeing you at Tattersalls or to welcoming you to the stud to see Delegator or any of our stallions at your convenience. Please just give us a call to arrange your visit.
