Kayf Tara into his stride for new season

British champion out in front again 18 June 2013

Britain’s champion jump sire Kayf Tara has made a terrific start to the new National Hunt season and is currently lying in fourth place among active sires in Britain and Ireland with 13 winners to his credit.

His two most recent scorers, Quel Ballistic and Sail And Return, were both recording back-to-back victories when winning on 6 and 7 June respectively.

Nine-year-old Quel Ballistic won a three-mile chase at Worcester, having won a novice chase at Fontwell on 29 May for Peter Bowen, while Sail And Return notched his second consecutive victory at Stratford over hurdles for owner/trainer Phil Middleton to bring his tally to five wins in total.

Later this week, Kayf Tara is set to be represented at Down Royal by Gigginstown House Stud’s seven-time winner Rathlin, yet another to have won his last two starts, those two wins coming in chases at Killarney and Punchestown.
