Impressive bumper winner for Kayf Tara

Overbury-bred four-year-old Long Lunch secures Market Rasen treble for Charlie Longsdon 28 September 2013

Long Lunch sealed a memorable day for Charlie Longsdon on Saturday when bringing up a hat-trick of wins for the trainer at Market Rasen with an easy victory in the bumper.

The Kayf Tara four-year-old was making just his third appearance on the racecourse but was sent off as odds-on favourite and coasted through the 2m1f event under a confident ride from young conditional Charlie Deutsch to win by four and a half lengths.

Bred by Overbury Stallions Ltd, Long Lunch is out of long-term Overbury Stud resident Royal Keel, a half-sister to the great Relkeel. He is the fourth winner for his dam, whose other successful progeny include Long Lunch’s full-brother Kayf Keel, six-time winner Hidden Keel, by Conduit Farm Stud’s Kirkwall, and Torta Nel Cielo, by former Overbury stallion Bertolini.

Royal Keel’s Kayf Tara five-year-old Mystifiable has been placed in two bumpers and is entered to make his hurdles debut at Chepstow on 1 October. The mare also has a yearling filly from the first crop of Schiaparelli and a Kayf Tara colt foal at Overbury Stud.
