Kayf Tara three-year-old a progressive Flat campaigner

Ballinderry Boy shooting up the ratings with back-to-back wins 6 October 2013

The Andrew Balding-trained Ballinderry Boy has given his sire Kayf Tara two decent wins on the Flat in staying handicaps in recent weeks with victories at Kempton and Ascot.

Currently rated 83 and likely to rise again for his two-and-a-quarter length win over two miles on 4 October, the three-year-old gelding has only twice finished out of the first three – on his first two starts as a juvenile – in seven racecourse appearances.

Assessing his most recent triumph, the Racing Post’s analyst concluded: “This strong stayer was always likely to win once making his way to the front and he could be one for all the top staying handicaps next season.”

Ballinderry Boy was bred by Spring Bloodstock Ltd and was the first foal of the Kalanisi mare Spring Dream, herself a decent dual-purpose performer for Alan King with seven wins to her names under both codes.
