Bumper winners keep rolling in

Two more Kayf Tara four-year-olds off the mark under rules 13 October 2013

Wyfield Rose and Champagne At Tara became the latest young winners for their sire Kayf Tara when landing bumpers at Towcester and Newton Abbot this week.

Wyfield Rose, bred by Coln Valley Stud from the Anshan mare Miniature Rose, was making her third start for Jamie Snowden and stayed on well up the Towcester hill to score by two lengths in the hands of Noel Fehily.

Forty-eight hours later Champagne At Tara, a runner-up in his sole point-to-point start in March, put that racecourse experience to good use when dominating the 2m1f finale at Newton Abbot.

Bought for £110,000 at Cheltenham in April by JP McManus, the grey gelding is out of Champagne Lil, a winning half-sister to Champagne Harry, whose nine victories include the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle.

Champagne Harry’s former trainer, Nigel Twiston-Davies, has himself enjoyed success with the offspring of Kaya Tara this season. His homebred duo of Mini Muck and Tara Muck, full-sisters out of Madam Muck (Gunner B), have each won in recent weeks.

Six-year-old Tara Muck won a bumper on debut at Southwell on 4 September while her year-older sister Mini Muck triumphed by eight lengths in a mares’ novices’ hurdle at Bangor on 3 October.
