Kayf Tara gelding cores on hurdles debut after recent bumper victory 21 October 2013
Charlie Longsdon has his string in great form and one of his up-and-coming stars is the Kayf Tara four-year-old Long Lunch, who on Monday added a debut victory over hurdles to last month’s bumper success.
Out of Relkeel’s half-sister Royal Keel, Long Lunch was bred by Overbury Stallions Ltd and is a brother to the winning mare Kayf Keel and half-brother to six-time scorer Hidden Keel (Kirkwall) and Torta Nel Cielo (Bertolini).
Describing Long Lunch as having a “very likeable attitude”, his trainer paid €28,000 for him at Tattersalls Ireland’s Derby Sale last year and the youngster is already repaying the faith shown in him, his four starts having resulted in two victories, a second and a fourth.
Kayf Tara was represented by another winner on Sunday at Kempton as eight-year-old Gallox Bridge took his tally of victories to five when winning a two-mile handicap chase in the hands of Richard Johnson. Kayf Tara is once again leading the stallion table for British-based National Hunt sires with 23 winners to his name so far this season.
