Grade 2 double for Kayf Tara

Kayf Moss and Mozoltov land black-type contests in Britain and Ireland
23 February 2014

Kayf Tara’s great season continues in full flow with two Grade 2 races going the way of his offspring on Sunday, 23 February on each side of the Irish Sea.

Gigginstown House Stud’s eight-year-old Mozoltov secured the first leg of the double when winning the Nas Na Riogh Novice Chase at Naas, coasting home 35 lengths clear of runner-up Folsom Blue.

The British-bred gelding is already a Grade 2 winner, having won the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle at Punchestown last February, and he has also twice been placed in Grade 1 contests. Trained by Willie Mullins, Mozoltov holds entries for the Grade 1 Arkle Trophy and Grade 1 JLT Specialty Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Just half an hour after Mozoltov's victory it was the turn of Kayf Moss to become Kayf Tara’s latest black-type performer when winning the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell, with Proclamation gelding Chris Pea Green taking third.

Bred by Vashti Hasdell from the Le Moss mare Madam Mosso, Kayf Moss has now won his last three starts for Welsh trainer John Flint and he too could be Cheltenham-bound as he is entered for the Grade 3 Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.
