Southwell at the double for Kayf Tara

Wordy’s Boy and Celtic Agent both in the winner’s enclosure
4 March 2014

Previous bumper and hurdles winner Wordy’s Boy bounced back to winning ways on Monday, 3 March when landing the two-mile handicap hurdle at Southwell for trainer Charles Pogson in the colours of Wordingham Plant Hire.

The nine-year-old returned to action in January after almost two years off the track and has now recorded his third win from nine career starts.

The Southwell bumper also fell to a son of Kayf Tara when six-year-old Celtic Agent capitalised on his previous third-place finish to win the two-mile contest by 12 lengths.

Bred and owned by Susan Johnson, he is a full-brother to the six-time winner No Planning, the pair being out of the Impecunious mare Poor Celt.

Kayf Tara’s strike-rate of winners to runners this season remains at an impressive 32%, his 63 winners, including recent Grade 2 scorers Mozoltov and Kayf Moss, making him the leading British-based National Hunt sire and fifth of all active sires in Britain and Ireland.
