First four mares in foal for Cityscape

Quartet includes Firebelly, dam of Godolphin's talented Group performer Firebeam
6 March 2014

The first four mares covered by Cityscape have all been tested in foal. They include the stakes winner Firebelly, dam of Godolphin's talented Group performer Firebeam, who had been barren for the previous three years.

The top-class miling son of Selkirk is enjoying the support of leading breeders and astute judges in his first season at Overbury Stud. His first book already includes a King’s Stand winner, a dual German G3 winner, a Cheshire Oaks winner, and the dam of a G2 winner. Bob McCreery is sending his G2 King's Stand winner Dominica; Kathryn Stud's Ayun is the dam of Akmal, a G2 winner by Selkirk; Peter Onslow is sending two mares, including Hollowina, a winning daughter of his G1 mare, Trick Or Treat.

Emma Balding is another breeder to have booked in two quality mares — Mara River, dam of Selkirk's classy miler, Border Music, and Casual Glance, a stakes-placed sister to Passing Glance. Juddmonte, who bred and raced Cityscape, are supporting him well – Cheshire Oaks heroine Valentine Girl is among the mares they are sending.

Other mares in Cityscape’s first book include multiple G3 winner La Dancia, rated the second-best filly of her year in Germany, and Makara, already the dam of two stakes horses, while breeders supporting him also include Andrew Black, with his young stakes mare Shawhill, Willie Carson, John Troy, Lady Whent, Luke Lillingston and Kevin Mercer, with a half-sister to the Selkirk miler Trans Island.

James Doyle, whose record-breaking victory on Cityscape in the Dubai Duty Free was the jockey's first G1 victory, is sending his extremely tough stakes-placed mare Baylini.
