Four-winner weekend for Kayf Tara

British NH Champion nearing 100-wins mark for the season
17 March 2014

Kayf Tara celebrated another Sunday treble with victories for Princess Tara and Cawdor House Bert at Ffos Las and Ballyoliver at Carlisle on 16 March, while Carole’s Destrier landed the competitive Betdaq Silver Plate at Kempton on Saturday.

Six-year-old Carole’s Destrier followed up on his maiden hurdle victory at Huntingdon at new year with a hard-fought win in the 2m5f Class 2 Hurdle to take his tally to two wins and four runner-up finishes in just nine starts.

His trainer Neil Mulholland told the Racing Post: “He’s lovely horse and he is better on this better ground but is a chaser to look forward to. We will look at Aintree with him now.”

Ballyoliver’s three-length victory in a handicap chase at Carlisle continued the good run of the in-form Venetia Williams stable and means he is now a five-time winner over fences, with a point-to-point success also to his credit.

In Wales, Cawdor House Bert won the 2m4f handicap hurdle at Ffos Las, his second victory for trainer David Rees, while Princess Tara capitalised on a good second at the course on her racecourse debut last November by winning the bumper for owners David Perkins and Kate Becton and trainer Peter Bowen. The four-year-old filly was bred in Ireland by Brendan Fitzpatrick and Timmy Hillman.

Kayf Tara has had 64 individual winners of 93 races so far this season and looks set to record his best ever tally.
