Lieutenant Colonel lands G1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle

Great day for Kayf Tara as Identity Thief brings up Fairyhouse double
1 December 2014

Lieutenant Colonel became Kayf Tara’s third Grade 1 winner when posting an emotional victory in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle for Sandra Hughes, who took over the training licence on the passing of her father Dessie last week.

Bred by Heather Calzini, the five-year-old got the better of Jetson by four lengths to land his fourth career win in just nine starts for Gigginstown House Stud.

Later in the day, newcomer Identity Thief demonstrated a handy turn of foot when coming from off the pace to land the bumper for trainer Henry de Bromhead. The four-year-old was bred in Ireland by Cathal Ennis and is a half-brother to the Listed-placed hurdler Oscarteea.

Kayf Tara is currently lying in sixth place on the list of active National Hunt sires in Britain and Ireland with 40 winners so far this season.
