Second G2 success for the impressive Blaklion

Kayf Tara’s promising five-year-old goes from strength to strength
14 December 2014

Blaklion enhanced his reputation as one of the most promising novice hurdlers in training with his second Grade 2 victory of the season, this time in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Having started his season with a win at Perth in September, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding landed the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow before finishing runner-up to Parlour Games in another Cheltenham Grade 2 contest, the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle in November.

The winner of five of his six starts under rules, Blaklion was bred by Mary Morrison and runs in the colours made famous by The New One, for lucky owners Sarah Such and Gino Paletta.

Other recent winners for Kayf Tara include Listed mares’ bumper victrix Lifeboat Mona, who is now unbeaten in three starts, as well as hurdle winners Brownville, Wilberdragon and Delgany Demon. Fifth on the table for leading active National Hunt sires in Britain and Ireland and leading all his contemporaries in the UK, Kayf Tara has sired 46 winners so far this season.
