Top sprinting son of Exceed And Excel joins the Overbury roster

Kuroshio, Exceed And Excel's best sprinting stallion son, is to shuttle to Overbury Stud from Darley Australia where he has just completed his first season at stud with a book of over 100 mares.

Exceed And Excel has proved himself the world's most successful sire of two-year-olds, and Kuroshio is his most precocious juvenile yet: Kuroshio won first time out, in the very first Stakes race of the Australian juvenile calendar, the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes – a month before his actual second birthday. He went on to become an exceptional short-course sprinter winning the Australian equivalents of the G3 Molecomb Stakes at two and the G2 Temple Stakes at three, beating older G1 winners in a blistering all-the-way display of sustained sprinting excellence.
Kuroshio has the pedigree and physique to match his race record. Out of a Gone West mare, his full-sister is Believe'N'Succeed, Exceed And Excel's first Group-winning daughter who has since gone on to breed 2014 G1-winning sprinter Bounding. His second dam is the top US filly November Snow, a multiple G1 winner by Storm Cat, and its the same back family of leading sire Green Dancer.
Simon Sweeting, manager of Overbury Stud, said, 'Exceed And Excel is one of the most coveted commercial stallions in Europe and Kuroshio is both his best sprinting son at stud and his most precocious juvenile yet. He's also Exceed And Excel's only Group winner at stud in Britain. What's more, he's got the looks you'd expect of an outstanding speed horse. I'm thrilled that the team at Darley have entrusted Kuroshio to the Overbury team, and I'm really looking forward to showing him off to breeders in the coming weeks.'
Kuroshio will stand at £3,500 Oct 1, SLF.
