Special Tiara wins G2 Desert Orchid Chase

Son of Kayf Tara posts stunning round of jumping at Kempton
27 December 2014

Special Tiara has already proved he is a first-rate steeplechaser with victory in the Grade 1 Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree in 2013 and he bounded into many racefans' hearts on Saturday with a flawless round of jumping at Kempton.

Making all to win the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase, the seven-year-old son of Kayf Tara is as flambioyant as he is brave, standing off his fences as he threw in some mighty leaps while drawing ever clearer of his rivals, which included the multiple Graded winner and race favourite Balder Succes.

Bred in Britain by David Young, Special Tiara is out of the Bob Back mare Special Choice and runs in the stars-and-stripes silks of American-born owner Sally Rowley-Williams. He is trained in Ireland by Henry de Bromhead, who, minutes after Special Tiara's exhibition round at Kempton enjoyed a Grade 1 victory with British-bred Sizing John at Leopardstown.
