Listed victory for Tara Point

Kayf Tara’s festive roll continues as he records his eighth winner since Christmas Day
31 December 2014

Tara Point became the latest high-profile winner for Kayf Tara when winning the Listed mares’ novice hurdle at Taunton on 30 December for Classic-winning owner Robin Geffen and champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls.

Bred in Britain by Anthea Gibson-Fleming from the Terimon mare Poppet, the five-year-old point-to-point winner has made a highly successful conversion to racing under rules, winning three of her four starts. She has also finished only a length and a quarter behind subsequent G1 Challow Hurdle runner-up Vyta Du Roc when third at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle – a race sponsored by her owner’s company.

Tara Point brings Kayf Tara’s tally to eight winners from Boxing Day to 30 Deecmber, including Lieutenant Colonel’s Grade 1 triumph at Leopardstown and a flawless winning round of jumping for Special Tiara in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton.

His other scorers over the festive period are bumper winner Bedale Lane; No Planning, who was recording his eighth victory, while Nick Williams’ Tea For Two brought his number of wins to four with a four-length triumph at Towcester.

Over in Ireland, youngsters Identity Thief and Whistle Dixie both retained their unbeaten records when winning at Leopardstown and Limerick respectively.

Congratulations to the connections of all the horses and a very happy new year to our friends and clients from all of us here at Overbury Stud.
