The Package delivers at Cheltenham

Festival glory for Kayf Tara 12-year-old
12 March 2015

The Package, a member of Kayf Tara’s second crop, proved that he is still very much the athlete at the grand age of 12, with a spring-heeled round of jumping in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup under accomplished amateur rider Jamie Codd.

Trained by David Pipe in the colours of the late David Johnson, the veteran campaigner has now earned more than £175,000 in his eight-year career which started in April 2007 with a winning bumper debut at Towcester. He has added four victories and ten placed finishes to that tally in the ensuing years, including finishing third in last year’s G3 Baylis & Harding Handicap Chase at the Festival.

Out of the Ardross mare Ardent Bride he was bred in Britain by Barkfold Manor Stud and joins Kayf Aramis and Alfie Sherrin on Kayf Tara’s list of Cheltenham Festival winners.

On Wednesday, Kayf Tara’s Grade 1-winning son Special Tiara posted another admirable performance when finishing third in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
