Second Grade 1 victory for Special Tiara

Kayf Tara gelding seals memorable season with victory at Sandown
25 April 2015

The 2014/14 National Hunt season drew to a close on Saturday with a final Grade 1 success for Kayf Tara courtesy of the victory of Special Tiara in the AP McCoy Celebration Chase at Sandown.

Having landed his first Grade 1 win at Aintree in 2013, Special Tiara dazzled onlookers at Christmas with a flawless and flamboyant round of jumping in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase before finishing third in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

Bred in Britain by David Young, the eight-year-old is trained in Ireland by Henry de Bromhead for Sally Rowley-Williams. He is one of four Grade 1 winners for his sire along with Planet Of Sound, Lieutenant Colonel and Thistlecrack.

For the sixth consecutive year, Kayf Tara is the leading British National Hunt sire with almost £1.5 million in progeny earnings for the season.
