New Year's Eve treble for Kayf Tara

The bandwagon rolls on for Britain's Champion National Hunt sire with 11 winners since Boxing Day

A terrific week for Kayf Tara continued on the final day of the year with another three winners for Britain’s leading National Hunt sire at Uttoxeter and Warwick.

First out of the blocks was King Of Glory, a son of the Gunner B mare Glory Be, who recorded his debut victory in Warwick’s handicap chase for owner-breeders Peter and Marion Willcocks.

His paternal half-brother Mystical Knight brought the Warwick card to a successful conclusion when winning the bumper on his first start under rules. The Rebecca Curtis-trained six-year-old was, however, recording his third win on the bounce having won his two previous starts in the point-to-point field.

Another bumper success was posted by four-year-old mare Tearsofclewbay, who won Uttoxeter’s two-mile contest on her racecourse debut for Philip Hobbs. Owned by Caren Walsh and Kathleen Quinn, she was bred by W P Jenks from the Polish Presedent mare Fenney Spring and is thus a full-sister to bumper and point-to-point winner Grace Tara.

The trio of victories brings Kayf Tara’s tally to 11 winners since Boxing Day, including an historic Grade 1 triumph for Tea For Two and Lizzie Kelly.
