Kayf Tara colt is TBA Foal Show Champion

Great day for Overbury Stud at Bangor as Dunaden filly named Reserve Champion

Six-time Champion British National Hunt sire Kayf Tara also led the way at the fourth annual TBA National Hunt Foal Show on Sunday when his son out of the winning hurdler Lado d’Oro (Slip Anchor) was named best in show after winning the younger colts’ class.

In fact, the colt, a half-brother to six-time winner Spirit Of Shankly who was bred by Alan and Sybil Newell, was the youngest foal at the show, having been born on 21 May. However, he’s a really well-made colt and a great mover, which made him stand out when presented by the team at Yorton Farm.

The day was a memorable one for Overbury Stud as our filly out of Candello (Supreme Leader) from the first crop of Dunaden won the older fillies’ class and was named Reserve Champion by the panel of six judges.

With the winner and runner-up of each of four classes going forward to the finals, the Overbury stallions were responsible for four of the eight finalists, with Dave Weston’s Schiaparelli colt ex Bissaat having finished runner-up to the eventual show champion in the younger colts’ division, while another son of Kayf Tara also made the final selection.

Once again, the show was very well organised by the TBA team and our thanks go to them and to the judges David Minton, Anne-Marie Poirier, Harry Fowler, George Haine, Emma Lavelle and JD Moore.
