Fourth winner for Delegator

Debutante Delectation strikes impressively at Thirsk

Delectation became the fourth winner for Delegator when winning on her racecourse debut in a 13-runner field at Thirsk on Tuesday.

Bred by Crossfields Bloodstock and racing in the name of Crossfields Racing, the April-born filly looked every bit the professional when asked to quicken by Paul Mulrennan and came home the ready winner of the six-furlong maiden by two lengths from the China Horse Club-owned Tschierschen.

Bought in for 3,000gns by her breeder, Delectation is out of Chuska, a Pivotal half-sister to the smart and speedy Group 2 winner Captain Hurricane, and Delectation herself now has a Group race in her sights, with trainer Bryan Smart indicating that he hopes to run her in the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr in September.

Delectation follows Accidental Agent, Nazik and Appointed into the winner’s enclosure for her young sire, whose placed daughter Delegating holds an entry for the Group 2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh on 21 August.
