Is She Diesel wins twice in 24 hours

Schiaparelli mare proves her toughness with Ballinrobe double

Schiaparelli’s first-crop daughter Is She Diesel recorded her first victory on Monday evening at Ballinrobe, swiftly followed by her second at the same course less than 23 hours later.

Having finished second at Clonmel on 18 May, the five-year-old came into the race in good form and claimed her first win easily by six lengths in the hands of Rachael Blackmore. Ridden the following evening by Sean Flanagan, Is She Diesel again kicked clear of her rivals at the second-last flight to seize the advantage and hold on for a hard fought second success. Trainer Seamus Fahey reports that she is likely to be seen next at the Galway Festival.

Out of the Sternkoenig mare Estrelle, Is She Diesel was bred by Bryan and Sandra Mayoh who enjoyed a terrific season in 2016/17 at the breeders of treble Gold Cup winner Sizing John and also of Kayf Tara’s Listed-winning hurdler Lifeboat Mona.

Tuesday was also a notable day for Cityscape who was represented by his first runner, the filly Astraea, at Redcar. Sent off at 20/1, the Mick Easterby trainee was professional from the outset, jumping well to share the lead and remain at the head of affairs for much of the race until overhauled to finish two and a half lengths off the winner in third.
