Strong day for Kayf Tara at Goffs UK

TBA Foal Show Champion sells for £52,000

Kayf Tara made his presence felt during the January Sale at Goffs UK, where 24 of his offspring of varying ages sold for an average of £23,028 and median of £19,000.

Despite being only just a yearling, the top priced among these had already been seen out in public when being named Supreme Champion at the TBA National Hunt ‘Stars Of Tomorrow’ Foal Show at Bangor last July.

Bred by David and Kate Ford, the Kayf Tara colt out of the Listed bumper winner and Grade 2-placed hurdler Lifestyle (Karinga Bay) sold to Michael Haggas from the Goldford Stud draft for £52,000.

The dispersal of the Trull House Stud stock was a major feature of the second day of the sale and a Kayf Tara yearling filly was among the highlights when sold for £44,000 to John Nicholson. The May-born filly is a daughter of the Listed winner Candy Creek (Definite Article), a half-sister to Grade 2-winning hurdler Mwaleshi who has already produced a dual winner by Kayf Tara, Asum, and also has a two-year-old gelding by him.

Also popular was Kayf Tara’s seven-year-old daughter Anguilla, from the family of Denman, and sold with an April covering by Flemensfirth to George Mullins for £50,000.

The sale also gave us a chance to show off Dunaden and our new recruit Jack Hobbs, who was very well received by breeders at the sale. Our thanks to the TBA for oragnising the National Hunt Stallion Showcase at Doncaster.
