Saturday double for Kayf Tara 08/12/08

Duke Of Miskin and Clan Tara, both former winning point-to-pointers, posted an Anglo/Irish double under rules for their sire Kayf Tara on Saturday, 6 December when winning at Chepstow and Navan respectively.

Duke Of Miskin, a five-year-old gelding , bred by Mr and Mrs Robert Chugg, was the three-length winner of a two-and-a-half-mile introductory hurdle after taking the lead with two flights left to jump and running on strongly to the post.

Six -year-old Clan Tara, bred by trainer Don Cantillon from his former top-class hunter chaser Alpine Gale (Strong Gale), has now won two races from three starts under rules for Paul Nolan in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud.

Other recent winners by Kayf Tara include Fit To Drive, who won a mares’ novices’ chase at Leicester on 30 November and Alfie Sherrin, who scored an impressive ten-length bumper win on 26 November in the colours carried to Gold Cup glory by Denman.

Racing for the owner/trainer combination of Harry Findlay, Paul Barber and Paul Nicholls, Alfie Sherrin had a Larkhill point-to-point success to his name before making his debut under rules. Bred by Mrs J L Egan, the five-year-old is the second foal of the Be My Native mare Mandys Native, who is a half-sister to the Whitbread Gold Cup winner Beau.
