Goldford Stud offering sells for €65,000 to Aiden Murphy.

Kayf Tara was responsible for two of the top three lots during the key session of Tattersalls Ireland’s November National Hunt Foal Sale on Tuesday with two colts fetching €65,000 and €58,000 respectively.

The top price of the day was given for the colt out of Listed-winning hurdler Whoops A Daisy (Definite Article) and was bred by the mare’s former trainer Nicky Henderson and Sally Aston, whose Goldford Stud consigned him. The colt’s previous public outing had been at the TBA Stars of Tomorrow NH Foal Show at Bangor in May, in which he finished runner-up in the older colts’ class.

Aiden Murphy, who outbid Ben Case, signed the ticket at €65,000 and said, “He is by a top sire, out of a good racemare, he ticked all the boxes.”

Mill House Stud’s Kayf Tara colt out of another Listed hurdles winner, Oligarch Society (Moscow Society), hails from a family laced with jumping black type and duly fetched €58,000 when sold to Richard Frisby.

With the sale continuing, Kayf Tara’s current average stands at €41,778 for nine weanlings sold.

Kayf Tara, whose fee will be announced at Christmas, will cover a restricted book of 100 mares of ages 16 and under in 2017.
