Kayf Tara mares notches Grade 3 success at Leopardstown.

The ultra-consistent Good Thyne Tara delivered a Christmas to remember for her co-breeder and owner N King when landing more valuable black type in the G3 Advent Insurance Irish EBF Mares’ Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Conceding weight to all bar one of her six rivals, the eight-year-old mare opened up a decent lead on the field when taking up the running at the third flight and rallied gamely to hold her advantage when challenged at the last to beat stablemate Elimay, with another from the Willie Mullins stable, the Grade 1 winner Limini, back in third.

Good Thyne Tara’s record now stands at five hurdles wins, as well as a Listed contest back in October, and two bumper victories. Furthermore, she has rarely been out of the places. In 19 starts, she has finished in the first three on 16 occasions. Out of the Good Thyne mare Good Thyne Mary, she is the third winner for her dam and by far the most prolific. She also has a younger full-sister, Tara Rocks.

On the same day, Kayf Tara was also represented by Internal Transfer, a winner at Limerick for Aidan J Ryan and Charlie Walker. The seven-year-old was bred by Robert and Jackie Chugg in partnership with Mill House Stud. Meanwhile in England, the 10-year-old Carole’s Destrier returned to the winner’s enclosure, recording his seventh victory for Carole Skipworth.
