Admiral D became the tenth individual winner for his leading first-season sire Ardad when landing the spoils at Listowel on his second start for his owner and trainer Michael O’Callaghan.

Purchased at the Goffs UK Breeze-up Sale for £37,000 from Ballinahula Stables, Admiral D was bred by Eddie O’Leary’s Lynn Lodge Stud from the One Cool Cat mare Derval.

O’Callaghan now has big plans for the youngster. Speaking after the race, he said: “I hold this horse in the highest regard. He either goes for the Railway Stakes or to the Royal meeting.”

If Admiral D heads to Royal Ascot he could be joined by a number of his fellow winning members of Ardad’s first crop, with Beautiful Sunshine, Tipperary Sunset, Eve Lodge and Vintage Clarets all potential runners.
As well as leading the first-crop sires table in Europe, Ardad is also the co-leading sire of two-year-olds for the season.
