As autumn creeps in and thoughts turn to the jumps season, Schiaparelli was represented by a bright new prospect at Warwick on Tuesday when Betty’s Belle made an eye-catching debut to win the mares’ bumper at Warwick.

Owned and bred by Bridget and Stuart Henley, the 4-year-old is the first foal of her dam Burgundy Betty, and both mother and daughter have been trained by Ben Pauling, who tweeted the above happy photograph of Betty’s Belle after her victory.

We were extra pleased to see Betty’s Belle win as she was born and raised at Overbury where her dam is a permanent boarder.

As a British-bred filly by a British-based stallion, Betty’s Belle also claimed a £10,000 Great British Bonus on top of her prize-money.

Her victory over the Kayf Tara mare Lutinebella impressed the Racing Post analyst Dave Randall, who noted in his verdict on the race that Betty’s Belle’s “attitude suggests she is one to look forward to over hurdles and fences”.
