Jack Hobbs, members of whose eldest crop have just turned four, notched his first point-to-point winner in Ireland on Saturday with the victory of Intense Approach in the four-year-old maiden at the Tynan & Armagh meeting at Farmacaffley.

The chestnut gelding won on debut for his owner/trainer Warren Ewing and is likely to be seen next at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Festival Sale.

Intense Approach was bred by Liz Lucas’s Swanbridge Bloodstock and is a son of the dual hurdle and three-time Flat winner Intense Tango (Mastercraftsman).

Jack Hobbs has alse been represented by two winners on the Flat to date from just four runners. His 91-rated son The Gadget Man was sold for 310,000gns to race on in Australia at least year’s Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale.
