Ardad has only a small crop of two-year-olds to race for him this year but he his already off the mark courtesy of Rush Queen, who struck at Listowel on Saturday for Ado McGuinness and Shamrock Thoroughbreds.

Bred by Phelim Dolan, the filly most recently sold through the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-up Sale for 50,000gns, having been pinhooked by Con Marnane of Bansha House for 35,000gns.

Speaking after what was just Rush Queen’s second start, her trainer said, “I thought she ran a blinder at the Curragh [on debut]. Where she finished didn’t do her justice as they got racing very early and greenness held her back. We knew she would improve a lot and she did it smartly there. She stuck her down and galloped the whole way to the line. She is still immature but she is a lovely filly.”
