Schiaparelli has been racking up the winners of late with his latest double coming on Tuesday courtesy of Rosearelli’s victory over fences at Taunton and a second win for Gallopade in the Taunton bumper.

The 7-year-old Rosearelli’s win came on her first start in a steeplechase for trainer Ali Stronge and breeder Miss A Hyde, who races the mare in partnership with the Select Racing Club.

The Warren Greatrex-trained Gallopade, who is campaigned by his breeder N J Hussey, has made a very successful start to his racing career and is now two from two in bumpers, having won for the first time last November at Fakenham.

Schiaparelli has now overtaken Passing Glance in the stallion table and is the leading active sire standing under the National Hunt banner in Britain with 19 winners so far this campaign, including his Grade 2-winning hurdler and Cheltenham Festival heroine Indefatigable, who also demonstrated her versatility by winning a Flat maiden last October. His top-rated performer on a mark of 157 is Ronald Pump, runner-up in the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last March.

A five-time Group 1 winner on the Flat from the outstanding German family of his fellow Classic winners Samum, Salve Regina and Sea The Moon, Schiaparelli, represents outstanding value at £2,000.
