New Auteuil winner for Sagamix

Sagakit lands the Prix de Pau and Un Beau Matin is runner-up at Punchestown 30 April 2012

Two of Sagamix’s promising young hurdlers have put in decent performances in the past week with five-year-old Sagakit landing his second hurdles victory with a hard-fought win in the Prix de Pau over two and a half miles at Auteuil.

Clearly a mud-lover, the French-bred grey gelding had no problems in the heavy conditions which currently prevail in Paris as well as most of the UK and Ireland, and he also on won on ground described as very soft last October at Enghien. Sagakit, who is out of Kitka, by Epervier Bleu, has also been placed on three occasions in nine starts.

His former compatriot, the three-time winner Un Beau Matin, has switched to the powerful stable of Gordon Elliott since a convincing victory over hurdles at Auteuil on 4 March. He made his first start on Irish soil at the Punchestown Festival carrying the colours of Gigginstown House Stud and finished runner-up in the Louise Fitzgerland Hotel Hurdle over two miles.
