Inghwung upholds great jumping family record - 25/04/08

Six-year-old Kayf Tara mare Inghwung has been in wonderful form all season and recorded her third win of the year at Fontwell on 24 April.

Bred and owned by Pink Floyd guitarist Roger Waters of Kimbridge Stud, she hails from a family of winning jumpers. Inghwung races in the same colours as her steeplechasing dam Mossy Fern (Le Moss), who won eight races in the early 1990s for Oliver Sherwood’s stable. Her sons Samby, Mossy Bay and Little Al have all, like Inghwung, also been trained by Sherwood and have won seven races between them in addition to their half-sister’s hat-trick.

Inghwung, from Kayf Tara’s first crop, has been a consistent performer in her two seasons racing to date. In nine starts, she has only once finished out of the money, in a Listed handicap hurdle at Newbury on her penultimate run, when heavy rain throughout the day led to 11 of the 17 starters being pulled up.

Following some decent placed efforts in bumpers last season, Inghwung started her winning ways at Folkestone on 12 February with a nine-length win over 2m4f. Another long-margin victory followed just under three weeks later over the same distance at Huntingdon before her most recent win over the extended trip of 2m6.5f. This thoroughly genuine individual looks to be a decent staying prospect in the making and has already proved herself a worthy bearer of her breeder’s lucky blue and green starred silks.
