On Italian Derby Day in Rome, Ardad sired his latest stakes winner in Queen Martina, who led home a 1-2 for her sire in the Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone, with Sposto Le Nuvole taking second.

The winner was bred by Tally-Ho Stud, who also bred Ardad himself and have been terrific supporters of him at stud.

Queen Martina formed half of a double on the day for Ardad, who was also represented at Windsor by the impressive debutant American Gulf, who won by more than three lengths in the colours of Fitri Hay. Trained by Paul and Oliver Cole, American Gulf is a half-brother to the G3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Mammas Girl and was bred by Robert Cornelius, who sold him as a yearling for 150,000gns.

With eight juvenile winners this campaign, Ardad is behind only Mehmas in the table for leading sires of two-year-olds. Among his youngsters being aimed at black-type races at Royal Ascot are Tadej, a winner at York last Saturday of the same maiden won by Bradsell en route to his victory in the Coventry Stakes.
