It has been a busy spell for Ardad, who is now co-third in the European two-year-old sires’ table behind only the late Wootton Bassett and Mehmas. His 30 winners put him level with the leading first-season sire Starman.
On Saturday, Ardisia became the fifth juvenile stakes winner of the year for Ardad when landing the Listed William Hill Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar, a year after Ardad’s son Candy won the same race. The consistent Ardisia, trained by Hugo Palmer and bred by Eddie O’Leary’s Lynn Lodge Stud, has now won five of his ten starts this season and has an official rating of 100.
This week there have also been victories for his fellow two-year-olds Calafiori, who won his second race for trainer George Boughey on Monday, the Richard Spencer-trained Mwaki, and Koffee And Kale, who struck at Leicester on Tuesday having been placed in his three previous starts.
Ardad’s black-type winners for the year include the G3 Prix de Cabourg winner Tadej, and Listed winners Anaisa, Wor Faayth and Queen Martina.
