The Andre Fabre-trained Botanik extended his winning record to six from just 11 starts when landing the G3 Prix de Reux in Deauville on Sunday.

The Godolphin-bred four-year-old has been a classy individual from his earliest days and broke his maiden at Saint-Cloud as a juvenile before running second in the G1 Criterium International. This season has seen him in a rich being of form, winning three of his four stats, this time beating Group 2 winner Glycon in the 2,500-metre contest.

Botanik is the first new stakes winner for his sire Golden Horn since he joined Overbury Stud from Darley, and we are very excited to be standing him for his owner Dash Grange Stud for the 2023 season.

His dual-purpose credentials have been enhanced of late by the Fergal O’Brien-trained five-year-old Byzantine Empire, who became Golden Horn’s first steeplechase winner at Southwell in June and is now two-for-two over fences as well as winning three times over hurdles.
