Cityscape’s exceptional ability to sire high-class horses shines through in a new table published by the Thoroughbred Stallion Guide, 2021. In a list leading sires of Stakes winners 2018-20 – useful as it shows the stallions who are succeeding now, rather than resting on laurels won earlier in their careers – Cityscape emerges as one of the top stallions in the UK. With his Classic trial-winning fillies Dan’s Dream and Give And Take, and also taking into account his 124-rated Ka Ying Star – one of the world’s elite milers who has been placed in G1s and won at G3 level in Hong Kong in 2020 – Cityscape is ahead of Sea The Moon, Showcasing and Bated Breath, as well as established stars Oasis Dream, Iffraaj and Pivotal.

The big crop Cityscape earned as a result of his early successes are yearlings of 2021, and can be expected to add more lustre to his record when they start to race. His percentage could soon look even better: among his current performers knocking on the door of Black Type success are Urban Artist – a Listed Bumper winner at Cheltenham, and second on her first start in Listed company on the flat – and the five-time French winner Champ de Mars, who holds an entry for the Listed Prix Max Sicard. Later in December, Ka Ying Star bids to win G1 honours in the richly endowed Hong Kong Mile: he was runner-up in the G2 prep race for the multi-million dollar championship event.
