Following a week with three stakes winners on the Flat for Golden Horn, his three-year-old son Gregory added to the haul at Goodwood when winning the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes for his owner/breeder Philippa Cooper.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Gregory only made his racecourse debut on 29 April and is now unbeaten in his two starts to date. He hails from a family which has been nurtured with great success by Cooper’s Normandie Stud. His dam Gretchen (Galileo) won the G2 Park Hill Stakes and is a half-sister to the G1 Irish St Leger winner Duncan and G2 Doncaster Cup winner Samuel. She has made a significant start to her own stud career with her first two foals, Lionel and Gregory, both now having won the Cocked Hat Stakes in consecutive years.

Golden Horn is the sire of four black-type winners this season, including the G2 Derby Italiano hero Goldenas, and Juddmonte’s hugely promising stayer Haskoy, who is under consideration for the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.
