The John and Thady Gosden-trained Trawlerman added to his already impressive record with a front-running victory in the G3 Henry II Stakes at Sandown on Thursday evening.

Godolphin’s seven-year-old was second to Kyprios in last year’s Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and he will return to the meeting with an excellent chance of claiming his first Group 1 success in a few weeks’ time.

The winner of the prestigious Ebor Handicap three years ago, Trawlerman then landed the G2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup of 2023 as well as the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes. Still lightly raced for his age, he has now won eight of his 20 starts.

Trawlerman was the second winner of the day for Golden Horn after the four-year-old Something won for the third time for trainer Jedd O’Keeffe at Ripon.

On Saturday, Golden Horn’s daughter Divina Grace, who won the G3 John Porter Stakes for Andrew Balding on her season debut, lines up for the G3 Brontë Cup at York, while Our Golden One is declared for the G3 Lester Piggott Fillies’ Stakes at Haydock for Tom Ward.
